Hello

I’m Sarah Wright, LMFT, and the founder of Sarah Wright Therapy. I provide trauma-informed therapy for teens and adults, with in-person therapy in San Francisco and Marin and online therapy throughout California.

My specialties include narcissistic abuse recovery, EMDR trauma therapy, teen therapy, women’s therapy, and parts work (IFS-informed therapy). I work with clients who feel stuck in painful relationship patterns, overwhelmed by anxiety or self-criticism, or impacted by trauma, grief, or difficult family dynamics. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more able to trust your own experience.

I’ve been in therapy on and off since I was 15, when my parents divorced. Over the years, I worked with therapists who helped me heal anxiety, depression, and addictive tendencies that began in my teens. My experience as a client shaped the way I practice. I know what it’s like to look for the right fit, and I believe good therapy should feel grounded, human, and deeply supportive.

After graduating from UC Berkeley with degrees in Theatre and Mandarin Chinese, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue standup comedy. While I loved making people laugh, it was improvisational comedy, along with a deepening yoga and mindfulness practice, that stayed with me throughout my twenties. Improv, much like mindfulness, helped me stay present, build resilience, and trust my body’s instincts alongside my thinking mind.

Therapy can feel heavy at times. I’m honored to support you in your darkest moments, while also making space for lightness when appropriate. Today, my work is influenced by mindfulness, yoga, and addiction recovery, and I bring that integration into a trauma-informed, relational approach that can include EMDR and parts work when it’s a fit.

I earned my Master’s in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. If you think we might be a good fit, I invite you to book a complimentary 15-minute consultation call below.

Why the Body Matters in Therapy

In this short video, I share why I believe it's essential to include the body in the therapy process. Somatic sensations carry just as much wisdom as our thoughts and stories, and learning to listen to the body can open up powerful pathways to healing.
